Character Concept

Hi, I was a little busy these past few weeks and couldn't update the blog :( , but I'm going to try to post a few stuff in the coming days.

Here's a concept I did for a friend of mine, it's for a personal project he is writing and he asked me to design some characters. I worked just with some descriptions and some references he gave me. Sorry for the watermark :S but since these aren't my ideas originally, I felt it was appropriate.

This is supposed to be a kind of steampunky version of Billy the Kid. :D

To the first one is the pencil sketch and the other one is the cleaned up and digitally inked version. I may post the colored version later when done.

Hola, estuve un poco ocupado estas últimas semanas y no pude actualizar el blog :( , pero voy a tratar de publicar algunas cosas en los días siguientes.  

Aquí les dejo un concepto que hice para un amigo mío, es para un proyecto personal que él está escribiendo y me pidió que le diseñara unos personajes. Trabaje en base a descripciones que me hizo y algunas referencias que me mostró.  Perdón por la marca de agua, pero como estas ideas no son mías originalmente, sentí que era lo apropiado.

Este se supone que es una versión un poco steampunk de Billy the Kid :D

El primero es el boceto a lápiz y el segundo limpiado y tintado digital. Mas adelante tal vez publique cuando ya este coloreado.

Magus doodle no.2

So, this is the other Magus doodle. It's a little more dark, dunno what inspired me, but I suddenly got that image in my head, it has a more comic book feel. I like how it turned out, I may ink it later and post it :)

Aquí esta el otro Magus. Esta versión es más oscura, no se que me inspiró, pero de repente me llegó esa imagen a mi cabeza, tiene un feel más comic. Me gusta como quedó, tal vez le de tinta después y la publicó :) . Espero les guste!

Magus doodle no.1

Good morning everyone!
Well, somebody commented on my Chrono Trigger Random Trash 03, that he would've liked to see Magus! and you know what, me too!, hehe, well honestly I just couldn't resist drawing such an awesome character and this was a perfect excuse. So I really got inspired and did two versions, this is the first try, it came out more "manga". The other one has a totally different feel, I'll be posting it later!

Bueno, alguien comentó en mi post de Random Trash 03 de Chrono Trigger, que le hubiese gustado ver a Magus y saben qué? A mi también  jeje. Bueno, honestamente, no pude resistir dibujar un personaje tan genial y esta fue la excusa perfecta. Realmente me inspiré y terminé haciendo dos versiones, este primer intento salió más "manga". El otro tiene un feel totalmente diferente, lo pondré más tarde!

Random Trash 03

Garabattle begins!

Hi everybody, Happy New Year!
It's been a while since my last update.

Today I have something really neat, you see, me and my friend Christian Castillo used to work together and we started this little game between us. Every morning he would draw a random doodle and leave it at my desk, then I would take it and tried to interpret it and make sense of what it was, and finally make a drawing based on that, the result was often hilarious, weird and very WTF stuff...

It was really fun and a great creativity exercise.

This was the basis that started the idea of the Garabatron, a section we have in our webcomic, The Boy With The Rusty Sword, here you can send a doodle just like I described and if you win, I'll do a drawing based on it. (Check it out, it's really cool :)

So, here's one example I scanned, I intend to post a bunch of these we saved from that time!
(On the left of course is the doodle and on the right it's what I came up with.)

Hola a todos, Feliz Año Nuevo!
No he actualizado en un tiempo.

Hoy les traigo algo bien interesante. Mi amigo Christian Castillo y yo solíamos trabajar juntos y empezamos un pequeño juego entre nosotros. Cada mañana el hacía un garabato al azar y lo dejaba en mi escritorio sin explicarme nada, luego yo tomaba esto y lo interpretaba y trataba de darle sentido y dibujaba algo basado en eso.

El resultado era a menudo graciosísimo, extraño o bizarro.

Era algo muy divertido y un gran ejercicio de creatividad.

Esta fue la base de la sección Garabatron de nuestro webcomic The Boy With The Rusty Sword, aquí nos pueden enviar uds. un garabato y si salen seleccionados, yo hago un dibujo basado en el (Vayan a ver, es muy cool!)

Pues aquí les tengo un ejemplo que escanee me propongo publicar poco a poco muchos de estos que tengo guardados de aquella vez!
(A la izquierda verán el garabato y a la derecha lo que pude se me ocurrió en base a eso)
